Castello is Cagliari’s main historic district, which is characterized by the walls that surround it and its elevated position above the rest of the city.
Staying in this neighborhood allows you to move around on foot or by bicycle to discover all the historical and artistic evidence, among the narrow streets, stairways, squares and glimpses of breathtaking views.
Walking around you can admire the Tower of the Elephant, the Tower of San Pancrazio, the imposing Bastion of San Remy, which through its monumental staircase directly connects Castello and Villanova, as well as admire historic buildings.
You can find small craft stores, trattorias and restaurants in full Sardinian tradition, as well as places for excellent aperitifs and cocktails.
Cars are allowed on the street where the house is located from 9 a.m. to midnight (from midnight to 9 a.m. it is therefore FORBIDDEN to enter by car, as the restricted traffic zone is active).
It is advisable to park your car outside the walls or in the guarded parking lot on Viale Regina Margherita, you can then go up to the Castello district on foot or by using the city lifts.
The Castello district is centrally located, so it is an excellent strategic point for getting around on foot or by bicycle and visiting the entire city and port. To reach the sea and the Poetto beaches, you can take the car, bus (line PQ or PF, stop at Via Roma – Molo Dogana, a 15-minute walk from the apartment) or a cab.
